📚 FAQ
General
What is Openfiles?
Openfiles is a platform built on TON Storage that allows easy file and folder uploads to the decentralized TON network. Files are stored centrally during the beta phase, with potential for future decentralization.
What is TON Storage?
TON Storage is a decentralized file storage solution built on the TON blockchain, enabling distributed, secure storage accessible globally.
How do I get started?
Visit our Getting Started guide to quickly begin uploading files and folders to TON Storage through Openfiles.
Files and Folders
What's the difference between files and folders?
Files are individual entities uploaded to TON Storage. Folders are collections of files uploaded as single entities, useful for static site hosting or grouped content distribution.
Can I update or replace an uploaded file or folder?
No. Once uploaded, files and folders are immutable. To update content, you must upload a new file or folder, creating a new Bag ID.
API & SDK
How can I programmatically interact with Openfiles?
You can use our Python SDK or directly interact with the API.
Where can I find the API documentation?
Comprehensive documentation is available on our API Documentation page.
TON Integration
How do I assign a TON domain to a TON Storage Bag?
You can assign a TON domain to a Storage Bag by following this guide (opens in a new tab).
How can I host a static site using TON Storage?
Follow the steps outlined in the static site hosting guide (opens in a new tab).
How can I migrate NFT content to TON Storage?
NFT content migration steps are available in the NFT migration guide (opens in a new tab).
Storage & Availability
Are my files decentralized?
Currently, files are stored centrally by Openfiles, but compatibility with TON Storage allows independent node operators to store additional copies, potentially enabling future decentralization.
Can others store copies of my files?
Yes. Because your files are uploaded as Bags compatible with TON Storage, other network participants can independently store copies, enhancing redundancy.
Security & Privacy
How secure is my data?
Your data is secured through the underlying cryptographic mechanisms of TON Storage, ensuring file integrity and immutability. Additional encryption is recommended for sensitive data.
Can I store private data securely?
Yes. Encrypt your data locally before uploading to ensure privacy. TON Storage (opens in a new tab) supports secure storage of encrypted data.
Limits & Best Practices
Are there file size limits?
Currently, Openfiles does not enforce strict file size limits during the beta. Future limits and best practices will be clearly communicated.
